Washington Capitals vs Dallas Stars Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The Central Division's Dallas Stars (14-6-3) head to DC to take on the Washington Capitals who are 12-8-2. Two of the older squads in terms of average age, the Stars were in action just a day before taking on the Florida Panthers. They have proved to be inconsistent of late, thrashing the Tampa Bay Lighting in Texas 8-2 before falling to the same team in Florida 4-0 just two days later. Seven of their last 10 games (before the Panthers game) have had over 5.5 goals and the twice that they have played back to back days this season, they have won the second game by scores of 4-3 and 8-3. They have a strong record when they have visited Capital One Arena in the past, notching a 12-3-1 mark and averaging 3.73 goals scored in each of those.
Things have not been good for the Capitals this season. Just a few years removed from a Stanley Cup win, they have struggled badly when it comes to scoring goals this season. Captain Alex Ovechkin has only managed to net five times in the first 22 games of the campaign which has him struggling to get to 20 if he does not improve on that pace. One of the greatest of all time, he surely manages to get himself back into the groove at some point. Their cause has not been helped by Max Pacioretty, Nic Backstrom and TJ Oshie all out injured which certainly limits their firepower. A team who have dined out on a strong powerplay down the years are running at less than 8% this year, a serious come down for their fans.
