Wales vs England Prediction & Betting Tips - Test Matchs
by Devesh Jaganath in Rugby Predictions
Wales will take on England in their first Rugby World Cup warm-up match on Saturday, 5th August. This is just the first of several Test matches scheduled over the upcoming weeks as both sides finalize their preparation and squads for the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France next month. Welsh rugby has endured a difficult period both on and off the pitch in recent times, and Warren Gatland will be in need of these warm-up matches if they are to have any chance of being competitive at the upcoming World Cup. Before heading to their training camps in Switzerland and Turkey, Wales lost the last match of this year’s Six Nations competition 41-28 to France. That result saw them finish second-bottom in the competition with six points and a record of one win and four losses, which included two record-breaking defeats against Scotland and Ireland. They did, however, beat the Italians 29-17 and picked up two bonus points along the way. Wales have lost their last two encounters against England, but with several changes likely to be made by their opponents, they are not entirely out of this contest just yet.
Meanwhile, England also tasted defeat at the back end of the Six Nations, losing 29-16 to the tournament winners Ireland, but that came after a crushing 53-10 defeat at the hands of Les Bleus. They were also beaten in the Calcutta Cup in the first match of the competition, and their wins over Wales and Italy were only good enough for a fourth-place finish in the tournament. In the last encounter with Wales, despite winning 20-10, England were far from impressive and were often second best in the frontline battle, which is something that they will be looking to improve in their four warm-up matches. Steve Borthwick has opted to select three debutants in his 33-man squad, and there are likely to be several changes made throughout the match. England and Wales has always been a fiercely contested battle, and this one should be no different.

Our Wales vs England Prediction
While England come into this match as the favourites, this may not be as cut and dry as some may think. Wales dominated large parts of the previous encounter and have trained as a squad for over a month at their overseas training camps. The visitors may win the match, but we fancy that it will be by a fairly slender margin. Therefore, our Wales vs England prediction: Wales +10.5. You could also opt for Wales +12 at odds of 1.4.
