World number 272 Vera Zvonareva seeks another win at the Jiangxi Open when she plays unseeded Diana Shnaider on Wednesday. The two will battle in the second round with the winner next playing either Nao Hibino or Kimberly Birrell. Shnaider had only won one of her previous four matches before arriving in Nanchang. That run sheds light on the form that the younger Russian has been in this year. Shnaider has won just three more matches than the 19 she has so far lost. On hard courts, the win over Lin allowed her to tie her record at 12-12. Despite her inconsistencies, the 19-year-old did manage to finish as runner-up in Ningbo last month. This is the highlight of her campaign as it was her first tour-level final. Schneider is up to a new career-high world ranking after moving eight places to 64th in the live ranking.
