Venus Williams vs Elina Svitolina Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Wimbledon Championships

Venus Williams is up against Elina Svitolina in the first round of the Wimbledon Women's Singles tournament. The winner will face either 26th seeded Elise Mertens or unseeded Viktoria Hruncakova in round two. Williams is now aged 43 and ranked 558th in the world but was given a wild card to play in  this grass court Grand Slam. The American has won this tournament on four occasions with the last win being 15 years ago. Two other finals have been reached at Wimbledon since then. This is her first Grand Slam event since losing in the first round of the US Open last year. Thiis is only her sixth match of the year with two wins and three losses so far. On grass, Williams has played three matches with one win over Camila Giorgi in Birmingham before losing a three-setter to Jelena Ostapenko.

Elina Svitolina has won three of her previous four matches against Venus Williams. includint the last three played since 2015. The most recent match was in 2019 at the US Open but this is their first meeting on grass. The Czech is making her way back up the rankings and is 76th at present. Her best performance at Wimbledon came in 2019 when getting to the last four. One clay court tournament has been won by her this year and the 28-year-old reached the last four at Roland Garros. Svitolina also played on grass in Birminghan and lost in her first match to Linda Fruhvirtova.  We go for her to get the win over Williams.
