Vegas Golden Knights vs Buffalo Sabres Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

A clash of East and West as the 12-15-3 Buffalo Sabres head to Las Vegas to take on the 20-5-5 Golden Knights. The defence of their Stanley Cup crown has been going well for the Knights, the T-Mobile Arena has been a fortress, boasting an 11-2-2 mark on home ice with their 45 overall points seeing them comfortably on top of the entire NHL at present. They have not lost in the 60 regulation minutes in their last nine games. They are 2-4 in overtime games and 4-1 when it comes to penalty shots so fans are sitting biting their nails if the Knights go to the three-on-three period but feel comfortable in a shootout. Jack Eichel leads the team in points this season and will be looking forward to trying to add to those against his former team. He spent the first five and a half seasons with the Sabres and had one of the best nights of his career when they last met.
It feels like the Sabres have been rebuilding for an eternity now, without a playoff spot since the 2010-11 season. Last season was their first one with a mark above .500 since the 2011-12 campaign but they have slipped backwards again this time around. They have had the odd bright spot, winning in Boston 3-1 against the Bruins three games ago was a smart performance but they have not been able to build on these successes, never really in the game when losing 5-1 at the Colorado Avalanche most recently. They sit 20th of 32 teams in terms of goals scored and 26th in goals conceded so they have looked poor at both ends of the ice in general. Perhaps another game at a tough opponent could bring out the best in them, especially with Eichel on the opposing team but it is hard to know when they will turn up.
