Third seeded John Isner takes on unseeded Vasek Pospisil in the Dallas Open quarter finals. Isner began the week ranked 26th in the world but is up three places in the live rankings. The former world number eight slumped to 39th last year but has gradually been making his way back up the list. He reached the semi-finals of the Toronto Masters in August 2021 but had a poor end to the year losing six of his last seven matches. That poor form continued into the new year and he'd won only one of five matches before heading back to the USA for this inaugural Dallas Open. Isner beat Kevin Anderson to reach the last eight. Another typical long match for the heavy server. All three sets went to a tie-break.

Vasek Pospisil was down at 150th in the world at the start of this tournament. He's up to 146 in the live rankings but that's way below the 25th he achieved eight years ago. Pospisil has spent this year playing on the Challenger Tour and reached two quarter finals before winning an event held in France. He beat Gregoire Barere in three sets to win the final, his opponent being ranked 167th at the time. Pospisil has lost to two players this year who were ranked outside the top 200. This week, he had to win two qualifying matches to reach the main draw. He's beaten wild card Caleb Chakravathi (for the loss of one game) and qualifier Jurij Rodionov (the world 153) in three sets. This is a big step up for him, back Isner to get the win.
