Vancouver Canucks vs Detroit Red Wings Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The 27-19-6 Detroit Red Wings play game two of a four-game road trip against the 36-12-6 Vancouver Canucks on Friday morning. The Canucks are back at home after a five-game road trip where they went 3-1-1, the overtime loss against these Red Wings. A number of Canucks are having a career year so it will be interesting to see how long they can keep up the pace at the top of the Pacific Division but there are no signs of them slowing down just yet and there are only 28 games left in the regular season for them. The last time that the Canucks won their division was back in the 2012-13 season, only making the playoffs twice in the decade since. A top-five offence and top 10 defence along with the winningest netminder in the league has them firing on all cylinders. The appointment of Rick Tocchet part way through last season has been an inspired move so far, the Canucks 55-24-10 under him and on course for 118 points this season which would be a new franchise record.
The teams met on February 10 in Detroit with the Red Wings winning that game 4-3 in overtime. That was the perfect end to a six-game home stand that saw them pick up four wins to keep them in the playoff picture but they were hammered late on against the Edmonton Oilers last time, turning a 3-3 tie at the start of the final period into an 8-4 defeat. They will have been disappointed with that performance late on in a game where Ville Husso had to leave the net with a lower-body injury with Alex Lyon coming in to concede seven. Lyon was excellent earlier in the season but since Christmas he has taken on a heavy load, conceding 47 in 15 games. That is only a little over three per game but it is the volume of shots that are flowing at him that are the bigger concern for the short-term future with the Red Wings unable to stop offences firing at will. Away from home at one of the stronger attacking teams in the league, that has to be a concern.
