Senegal are the highest ranked country in Africa at 17th but aren't the current Afrobasket champions having lost to Nigeria in last year's final losing them the title they won in 2015. This is their first World Cup finals since 2010 when finishing 16th and their best ever performance is 12th in 1979 though that was last position.
