The second round of matches at the 2024 Paris Olympics will see the USA taking on Germany on Tuesday afternoon. Team USA lead Pool C with three points while the Eagles are second with two points. Let’s unpack our match prediction. 

Team USA made a winning start to their 2024 Olympic campaign, notching up a 3-0 win over Argentina on Saturday (25-20, 25-19, 25-16). 

Led by Micah Christenson, they posted a record of 38 kills, seven errors and 62 attacks, achieving a .500 efficiency percentage. They also dominated the service line with eight aces.

USA have now won six of their last 10 games in all competitions and are on a four-match winning streak against their upcoming opponent dating back to June 2018. 

Meanwhile, Germany pulled off the shock of the first round of matches, beating the world’s second-ranked Japan in a five-set thriller (25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 30-28, 15-12). 

The result brought an end to a six-match losing streak against the side from Asia. Gyorgy Grozer was arguably the best player on the day, scoring 24 points (15 kills, five blocks, four aces). 

Germany’s blocking performance was a major factor in the last match, as they outscored their opponents 18 points to eight, and they will need something similar here if they are to have a chance of overcoming the US.
