The USA face Australia in the last eight of the 2024 Davis Cup Finals. For the winner, there will be a semi-final match against either Italy or Argentina. Can the Americans beat the team from down under? Here's our match prediction.

The USA have a strong line-up for this tie that is over the best of three matches. Two singles will be played and if necessary a doubles decider. The two singles players for the USA will be Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.

Fritz is up to a career-high fourth in the world rankings. He was the runner-up in last week's ATP Tour Finals and also this year's US Open. Tommy Paul is ranked 12th and the USA are the only country in this tournament with two top 16 ranked singles players.

Australia will be tough opponents with Alex de Minaur likely to face Fritz. The pair met in last week's Tour Finals with Fritz winning in three sets. They also have Alexei Popyrin (ranked 24th) who's won one Masters event in 2024.

If the match does go to the doubles, the USA has the edge with Ram and Krajicek both being in the top 45. We tip the USA to get the win in this match and progress to the semi-finals.
