Pool C in the 2024 Paris Olympics volleyball competition will get underway with the United States taking on Argentina on Saturday evening. The US are currently ranked sixth in the world standings, while the Argentines are eighth. Let’s get into the match prediction of this Pool C opener. 

The United States will be making their 16th consecutive appearance at the Olympic Games this year and will be looking to win the gold for the first time since the 2008 Games in Beijing. 

Team USA earned their place in the competition by topping Pool B at the FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifiers, maintaining their 100% attendance in the Olympics since volleyball was included way back in 1964. 

Over the years, they have won three gold medals (1984, 1988 and 2008) as well as two bronze medals (1992 and 2016). They also beat this opponent 3-0 in their most recent encounter in the Nations League at the start of last month. 

Meanwhile, Argentina booked their ticket to Paris by remaining among the top four sides in the FIVB World Ranking that had not qualified by the end of the Preliminary Phase. 

They are set to embark on their ninth Olympic Games campaign and have only missed out on the competition twice since their debut in 1984. Across their Olympic history, the South Americans have won bronze twice, in 1988 and at Tokyo 2020. 

However, they have not been at their best in the lead-up to the tournament, losing each of their last three matches and only winning two of their last seven, which were against Bulgaria and Turkey. 

These sides have split the last eight encounters four wins apiece dating back to 2018.
