Scotland’s tour of the Americas will come to an end on Saturday when they take on Uruguay at Estadio Charrua in Montevideo. Los Teros are ranked 17th according to World Rugby Rankings, while the Scots are sixth. Here are our thoughts and match prediction for this encounter.
After an underwhelming World Cup campaign and dropping to fourth place from third in the Six Nations earlier this year, Scotland have enjoyed an impressive Test tour of the Americas this month.
They kicked off their trip with a 73-12 trouncing of Canada and followed up with a 42-7 win over the USA and a 52-11 victory over Chile at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos last weekend.
The Scots will now look to wrap up their tour unbeaten against Uruguay, in the first meeting between these sides in South America, and just the second between the nations ever.
In the only previous matchup between the sides, which was way back in 1999, Scotland cruised to a 43-12 victory and are the clear favourites to secure another comfortable win this time.
Uruguay, on the other hand, have come on leaps and bounds in recent years but are still some way from being able to challenge the more recognised rugby-playing nations in the world.
This month, Los Teros have played twice, losing both times, first to France’s B team by a scoreline of 43-28 before being totally annihilated by Argentina last weekend 79-5.
The host nation have now lost each of their last three matches and have a record of four wins and six defeats in their last 10 in all competitions.
