Only the top four in this pool go into the last 16 and neither Ulster or Exeter have earned a point so far from their three games. They are five points behind fourth-placed Sharks so whoever wins this match would need a bonus point too to stand any chance of qualification a and hope Sharks lose heavily at Bordeaux. It looks likely this game will simply decide who finishes fifh and goes into the Challenge Cup.

Ulster are ninth in the United Rugby Championship with three losses in their last four matches in that league. They won their first three home league games of the season but have lost the last two.

In this pool, Ulster have lost to Toulouse and Leicester Tigers and been beaten at home by Bordeaux Begles. They have lost six of their last seven matches and have been conceding far too many points.
