14th seed Ugo Humbert taes on unseeded Dominic Koepfer in the third round of the Miami Open. Potential seeded opponents in round four are third seeded Daniil Medvedev and 30th seed Cameron Norrie. Humbert is in the third round of this outdoor hard court Masters 1000 event for only the second time. He made it this far in 2021 but had lost in round two for the past couple of years. Humbert beat unseeded Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets in his opening match. The Frenchman is 14th in the rankings but eighth in the Live ATP Race. This year has already seen him win two hard court titles, including the outdoor title in Dubai. This is his first match against Dominik Koepfer.

His German opponent began this tournament ranked 50th but is 57th in the live list. He's won two matches to get to this stage of the Miami Open. It was a struggle in round one as he had to come from behind to beat Marcos Giron. Round two was smoother and he caused a surprise by beating 18th seed Sebastian Baez in straight sets. This is his third time in the Miami Open but the first time he's made it past round one. Koepfer has been showing some good form on outdoor hard courts with recent quarter finals in Dallas and Acapulco but lost in the first round at Indian Wells.
