Ugo Humbert vs Daniil Medvedev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Beijing Open

The quarter-finals in the ATP Beijing Open pits second seed Daniil Medvedev up against unseeded Ugo Humbert on the diamond court. The winner of this matchup will go on to face either Sascha Zverev or Nicolas Jarry in the semi-final. Medvedev is having a ridiculous year. The ATP third-ranked player is boasting an 83% winning mark in 2023 and has already made five finals, winning three. To make things even more impressive, he’s done all this despite missing the first two months of the year. The former world number one took down the Dubai Duty Free Tennis in March, the Miami Open in April and the Rome Masters in May. Most recently, Medvedev made an excellent run to the final of the US Open, ultimately finishing as the runner-up to Novak Djokovic. In this event, the 27-year-old Russian recorded straight sets victories over 13th-ranked Tommy Paul and 12th-ranked Alex De Minaur. Medvedev is in top form at the moment, making it look relatively easy against two very tough opponents in this tournament.  

Ugo Humbert will be the one tasked with slowing down the runaway freight train that is Daniil Medvedev. Humbert is having a very solid year in his own right and has already claimed two tournament wins this season. The Frenchman took down the Cagliari Challenger and the Bordeaux Challenger event, both on clay surfaces. In Beijing, Humbert was taken to a third set by both of his opponents so far. He beat 56th-ranked Lorenzo Sonego 2-1 in the first round which set up a second round showdown with sixth-ranked Andrey Rublev. Humbert showed excellent resilience to recover from dropping the first set to win the next two and claim a big upset victory. He’ll need every ounce of that momentum if he is to cause another upset, with the oddsmakers laying the 36th-ranked pro as a significant underdog.
