The oldest of the cycling 'monuments', Liège-Bastogne-Liège lives up to its historical status as the old lady of the sport. Another one-day race for the puncheurs, let's take a look over the field and make a prediction.
Once more, we have to start with Tadej Pogacar. He got the job done in the Flèche Wallonne in midweek to add to his prior wins this spring in the Strade Bianche and Tour of Flanders. He won this event in 2021 and 2024 and unsurprisingly is the hot favourite once more.
The winner in 2022 and 2023 was Remco Evenepoel. He was no match for Tadej Pogacar in the Flèche Wallonne, fading to ninth as they climbed the Mur de Hoy for the final time. An incredible talent and the flatter finish is going to be a plus for him.
Tom Pidcock was third in the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège has been his best monument. Two top-10 finishes include a runner-up ride in the 2023 edition so he has to be a solid each way angle once more.
At a huge price is Valentin Madouas who has finished fifth and seventh in this race in 2023 and 2024. He has already found his way into the top 15 in the Strade Bianche, Dwars door Vlaanderen and the Fleche Wallonne this year so he needs considering in this event.

Liege-Bastogne-Liege - UCI prediction key points
- The 2025 route covers 252km and will see 11 climbs as part of the race profile.
- Only six men have won more than two Liege-Bastogne-Liege which is the task that faces dual winners Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel.
- La Redoute is the most famous climb in the race, crested within the last 35km.
- Tom Pidcock and Valentin Madouas are the only two in the field to make the top 10 in the last two renewals.

There is little doubt that given his form so far in the monuments and classics that Tadej Pogacar is the man that they all have to beat. This is not a finish at the top of a climb like the Flèche Wallonne was in midweek which gives other riders a chance to get back to him for a sprint finish.
While Valentin Madouas is far from a sprinter, he has been in the top 10 in this event for the last two years. He is a 151.0 chance to win this which looks tough but our Liège-Bastongne-Liège prediction is for Valentin Madouas to finish in the top 10.
