The second semi-final in the Women’s Volleyball competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics will see Turkey taking on Italy on Thursday evening. The winner of this match will move on to face either Brazil or the United States in the final on August 10. Let’s get into the prediction. 

Turkey have already improved on their best-ever finish at an Olympics, which was fifth place in Tokyo and are one win away from guaranteeing themselves a medal. 

They came through the preliminary round in second place in their group with five points in their three matches, and are now set to face the only team they’ve lost to in this competition. Aside from the Italians, Turkey beat Netherlands 3-2 and Dominican Republic 3-1 in the group stage.

In the quarter-final, the Crescent Stars pulled off arguably the shock of the round, overcoming the unbeaten Chinese 3-2, taking their overall record to six wins and four losses in their last 10 matches in all competitions. 

Meanwhile, the world number one, Italy, have also achieved their best Olympic result this year, going one better so far than the fifth-place finish they’ve posted on three separate occasions. 

Gli Azzurri came through the group stage with flying colours, winning all three matches while only losing a single set. They then made light work of Serbia in the quarter-final, romping to a 3-0 win in just over an hour.

Italy have now won nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions and have also beaten their upcoming opponents in each of their last two encounters.
