It was a rough opening night for Toronto as they suffered a heavy 136-106 home defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Toronto are in the midst of a rebuild, but it certainly wasn’t an encouraging start to the season for a team that won just 25 games last year.
RJ Barrett missed the game against Cleveland while Immanuel Quickley played just 14 minutes before leaving after a hard fall. Both are listed as doubtful for Friday’s game, which puts the Raptors in a tough spot offensively.
The 76ers suffered an opening night defeat of their own after falling 124-109 at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Like their opponents today, Philadelphia was also missing two crucial pieces in former MVP Joel Embiid and recently-acquired superstar Paul George.
Reports are that Embiid will miss at least another two games with the team citing “left knee injury management”. George, meanwhile, is on a similar timeline, meaning that Friday’s game in Toronto comes too soon for the pair.
