The Cleveland Cavaliers will kick off their 2024-25 NBA campaign with a trip to Scotiabank Arena to face the Toronto Raptors on Thursday morning. The Raps finished last season 12th in the Eastern Conference, while the Cavs finished fourth. Let’s get into the match prediction.

The Toronto Raptors will be looking to put their dismal end-of-season form behind them, having finished last term losing 19 of their 21 regular season games. 

That run saw the Raps end the campaign with a horrendous 25-57 record overall, and they are another team in the league that is expected to be in rebuild mode this season. 

At home, Toronto posted a record of 14-27 in 2023-24 and split their last two matches at this venue against this opponent last season. 

In contrast, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be aiming to build on their performance from last season when they won 48 regular season games to lock up fourth place in the East. 

It was also the seventh time in the last 10 seasons the team has won more than 44 games, including an away record of 22-19. 

Indeed, Cleveland proved no match for the Celtics but there was plenty to be impressed about with their performances considering the injury setbacks they were dealt - Donovan Mitchell and Caris LeVert come to mind.
