Toronto Maple Leafs vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Joseph King | in NHL Predictions
The Toronto Maple Leafs host the Colorado Avalanche at the Scotiabank Arena for this East vs Western Conference matchup in the NHL on Wednesday night. The Maple Leafs are looking to secure themselves the second position in the Atlantic division as they currently lead the third-place Lightning by two points. Toronto’s record of 40 wins, 18 defeats and five overtime losses puts them on 88 points, good for the fifth-highest points total in the entire league. Unfortunately for them, they share a division with the powerhouse Boston Bruins, who are running away with the division thanks to a historic points total of 105 at this stage in the season. The Leafs are coming off a disappointing 4-3 home defeat to Buffalo on Monday and will be looking to bounce back with a victory here. It’s been somewhat of an inconsistent patch of form for the hosts, who have now won three and lost three of their last six games. Toronto is playing the third of a four game homestand here and should be well-rested ahead of this matchup without any travel fatigue to worry about.
The visiting Avalanche come into this matchup looking to extend their lead above the fourth-place Jets in the Central division. With the top three spots in each division earning automatic entry into the postseason, the defending champion Aves look likely to have a tough race on their hands as we approach the final stretch of the regular season. Colorado’s record of 37 wins, 22 losses and six overtime defeats gives them a total of 80 points; four points behind the second-place Wild and only one point ahead of fourth-place Winnipeg. The Aves last outing ended in a big 8-4 win over Montreal, the team's second in a row and third in the past four games. Colorado is one of the league’s better away teams with a record of 19 wins, 11 defeats and five overtime losses on their travels this season. They’ll need to be at their absolute best here as they face off against a Toronto team that boasts one of the league’s best home ice advantages.
