Toronto Maple Leafs vs Boston Bruins Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

An Atlantic division showdown early on Sunday morning as the division leading Boston Bruins (33 points) travel to Toronto (27 points) to take on the third place Maple Leafs. The Bruins have lost four of their last six games on the road, including against the Columbus Blue Jackets which is a disappointing effort from a genuine Stanley Cup contender. They have taken on the Leafs once so far this season, an early November contest, the Bruins won in a shootout at home. It’s fair to say that the Bruins were in far better form at the time, picking up points in a 10th straight contest whereas now they are not quite in the same goalscoring form. In their first 17 games they were scoring 3.6 goals per game, that has slipped to 2.8 in their last five outings which has to be a worry on the road to a team who score at a strong rate.
The Leafs are averaging four goals scored per game at home this season but their blue line has been letting them down with far too many going in at the other end. They have managed to take the two points for a win in five of their last six games on home ice so they are a tough side to beat. Four of those five wins have come in either overtime or a shootout, going beyond 60 minutes has become a common theme this season with 10 of their 21 games doing so. When they fell to the Bruins four weeks ago they were losing game three of a four-game skid but still managed to come from 2-0 down to force a shootout. This looks set to be another close game with little to separate the two sides and with the game being in Toronto it can swing the result that way.
