Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
The first game on the Saturday MLB card sees the AL East third-place Toronto Blue Jays hosting the AL West third-place Los Angeles Angels. These two teams are competing for a Wild Card spot with almost two-thirds of the season already in the books. It’s the Blue Jays who currently control the third and final Wild Card spot and who are holding a slim 1.5 game lead over division opponents Boston. The Angels sit four games behind their opponents today although there is plenty of season left to make up that ground.
The Blue Jays are unfortunate to play in baseball’s toughest division where they sit third with 58 wins and 46 losses. This is the second of a three game series between these two ball clubs with the Blue Jays taking game one by a score of 4-1. The victory was Toronto’s second in a row and fourth from the last five as they look to build some solid momentum. They’ll send out Alek Manoah who is 2-8 on the season with a 6.10 ERA. It’s been an eye-opening regression for the 24-year old in his third year after being a Cy Young finalist last season. His last start was decent, giving up three earned runs but walking four and allowing a home run in a 4-3 Jays win.
The Angels saw a four game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Blue Jays in game one of this series. The bats had finally cooled off for LA who had scored a total of 31 runs during that four game stretch for an average of 7.75 per contest. The Angels are 54-50 on the season and trail the division leading Rangers by six games. Reid Detmers will get the start for the visiting team and is sporting a 2-7 record with a 4.38 ERA on the season. Detmers put together a solid outing in his last start, going five innings and allowing two earned runs.

Our Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction
Despite being held to only one run in the previous games, the Angels bats have been hot overall which should carry over into this matchup. Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah simply cannot be backed with the way that he has performed this season. This is a terrible spot for him against an Angels team that has been crushing righties this season. With Detmers taking the mound for the visitors, they’ll be hoping he can produce a similar start to the one against the Pirates in his last outing. If he can, the LA bats should be able to produce sufficient run support to take this victory. Our Toronto Blue Jays vs LA Angels prediction is for the Angels to win.
