Toronto Blue Jays vs Houston Astros Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
The Astros and Blue Jays are set to face off on Friday with the first of three game series at the Rogers Center in Toronto. Houston capped off a four game away series with the Texas Rangers yesterday with a 3-2 away win. The result made it three wins in a row for the ‘Stros as they move above the .500 mark with a record of 10-9 and claim the early bragging rights over their Texas rivals after winning the series 3-1. The Astros now move on to the Blue Jays, who have been experiencing a great start to the still young 2022 MLB season. Toronto has a record of 13-7 which gives them the second best record in the AL, trailing only their division rivals the New York Yankees at 13-6. The Blue Jays are coming off a 1-0 shutout win against the Red Sox which capped off the series 3-1 in favor of the Jays.
This should be a close contest between two very even teams despite Toronto's superior record at this point in the season. Both ball clubs have been in good form with the Astros winning four of their last five games while the Blue Jays have won seven of their last 10. These two teams met just last week when they played a three-game series in Houston, with the Jays winning the first two before the Astros were able to avoid the sweep with an extra innings 8-7 victory in the third game. Houston are expected to send out Jose Uriquidy to the mound who pitched well in his first meeting against the Blue Jays in the previously mentioned series, going almost six innings with two earned runs and six hits given up. For Toronto, lefty Yusei Kikuchi is the expected starting pitcher. Kikuchi was the starter in the loss to the Astros last time out and struggled with control. He only made it through three innings while giving up two earned runs and walked five batters.

Our Toronto Blue Jays vs Houston Astros Prediction
We’re going to back the Astros to win as our bet for this game. This is a good price for an even matchup that could slightly favor Houston given that they likely have the pitching advantage as well as a reliable bullpen. Games between these two teams have been very close with each of the last three ending with just a one run margin. Given how close these teams are we’ll take the better price on the visitors.
