Fourth seed Tommy Paul faces qualifier Laslo Djere in round two of the Stockholm Open. The winner goes into the quarter-finals of this indoor hard court tournament with the scheduled seeded opponent being Nicolas Jarry. Read our match prediction below.

Tommy Paul is the world number 13 but a place lower in the live rankings. The American is 11th in the ATP Live Race and needs to put in some strong positions if wanting to get into the end-of-season Tour Finals.

His most recent tournament was the Shanghai Masters where he lost in the last 16 to Tomas Machac after winning the first set. He was also beaten at that stage in Tokyo. He won his only previous match against Djere in straight sets on a hard court but that was six years ago.

The 27-year-old has won two ATP Tour events this year. One of those was on a hard court when winning the Dallas tournament. He also made it to the final in Delray Beach and the semi-finals at Indian Wells.

Laslo Djere was 113th in the latest published list that came out on Monday. He's down to 126th in the live list because in 2023 he made it to the semi-final of this tournament and is now defending the ranking points won.

This year he had to play two qualifying matches to get into the main draw. One set was lost in his two matches and that took him into a first round match against Pedro Martinez. He had few problems in that match and only lost two games, all in the first set.

A win here would be the first time he's won two successive matches in an ATP Tour hard court tournament this year. We believe Tommy Paul can win this match in straight sets.
