Tommy Paul vs Jannik Sinner Prediction & Betting Tips - Toronto, Canada
by Steve Ashfield | in ATP Toronto Predictions
Seventh seeded Jannik Sinner takes on the 12th seed Tommy Paul for a place in the final of the National Bank Open. The winner will face either Alex de Minaur (who recently beat Paul) or Alejandro Davidovic Fokina in the final, both of whom are unseeded. Tommy Paul caused a massive upset on Friday when beating the top seeded Carlos Alcaraz in three sets. The American is up to 12th in the live rankings and is in the last four of this outdoor hard court Masters event for the first time. The 2023 Australian Open semi-finalist is in top form at present. He's reached at least the last eight in three successive tournaments now. Three of his matches in Toronto have gone to a final event. He had to go the distance to get past both Diego Schwartzman and Francisco Cerundolo.
Jannik Sinner also had to go to a final set in his quarter final against unseeded Gael Monfils. He remains eighth in the live rankings but winning this tournament would take him up to sixth. He's had a great 2023 so far and that's illustrated by the fact the Italian is fourth in the Live ATP Race. The 21-year-old has won 41 matches this year and is proving to be one of the most consistent players on the ATP Tour. Four tournamens in a row have now seen him get to at least the quarter finals. One hard court title has been won this year with defeats in two other finals. He's only had to play two matches to get to this semi-final. Before beating Monfils, he defeated fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini in straight sets. Then his scheduled match against Andy Murray was called off due to the Brit suffering an abdominal injury. It's 1-1 in previous matches between these two players. Both were last year but on clay and grass. This is their first match on a hard court and we go for Sinner to get the win.
