Third seed Tommy Paul will face compatriot and second seed Frances Tiafoe in the semifinals of this year’s Delray Beach Open. The winner will then play either Marcos Giron or Taylor Fritz in the final. Tommy Paul is in scintillating form and is seeking a second successive tour title. The American has won his last six matches and arrived in Delray after winning the Dallas Open. He has compiled a 9-2 record with five of his wins coming on hard courts. The current world number 14 has defeated Tiafoe twice in five meetings. Both wins have come in the last two times they have met with the latest being two seasons ago in Adelaide. Paul has never progressed past the semifinals in Delray and lost in this very round in 2022. To advance to this round, he defeated Jordan Thompson in straight sets.

Frances Tiafoe has defeated Paul three times before with two of his wins coming on hard courts. One of his wins, which is also the last time he won in this fixture, came at this very same event. Tiafoe defeated Paul in the second round of the 2020 Delray Beach Open. As a former Delray champion, the current world number 15 will fancy his chances of coming out on top. Tiafoe triumphed here in 2018 and this is the first time he has advanced this far since then. The 26-year-old, who is having a shaky start to the year, defeated lucky loser Flavio Cobolli 2-0 in the quarterfinals. It was his fifth win in eight outings and the fourth on hard courts. The win over Cobolli was also the first time he had won back-to-back matches since last October.
