Tommy Paul vs Botic Van De Zandschulp Prediction & Betting Tips - Rolex Paris Masters

Unseeded Botic Van de Zandschulp bids to cause an upset in the second round of the Paris Masters. He takes on 12th seeded Tommy Paul with the victor facing either fifth seeded Andrey Rublev or qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka. Van de Zandschulp began this indoor hard court tournament ranked 60th but is up to 57th in the live rankings. A win over Paul can see him rise as high as 51st. That's still well below his career high of 22nd achieved last year. It's not been a great 2023 for the Dutch player. His best performance came on clay when reaching the final in Munich. On hard courts he got to the last four in Pune (in his first tournament of the new year) and the quarter finals in Dubai. Recent weeks have seen him win only four of his last 11 main draw matches. The latest of those wins came in the first round of this Paris Masters with a straight sets win over Adrian Mannarino. That followed two wins in the qualifying rounds, both in straight sets.

Tommy Paul is 12th in the live rankings and the Live ATP Race. He could yet finish in the top eight of the ATP Race and qualify for the Tour Finals or at least be an alternate by finishing ninth or tenth. The American will need to go deep in Paris though if he wants to achieve that. His last semi-final was in the Toronto Masters in August where he beat Carlos Alcaraz. Since then, he has failed to get past the last 16 in five of six tournaments. He did get to the last eight in Tokyo though. Paul's Paris Masters campaign got off to a disastrous start. He didn't win a game in the first set of his round one match against Richard Gasquet. Paul fought back well though and won the match on a final set tie-break. Van de Zandschulp won their only previous match in a Davis Cup tie in September. Paul is in much better form now and can get the win here.
