Tomas Etcheverry and Yoshihito Nishioka will face off in the fourth round of the French Open on Monday. Etcheverry has made it to the second week of this competition for the first time. This is a boost to his confidence; a sign of progress that highlights the rich vein of form he’s in. The Argentine, who is unseeded, is yet to drop a set in Paris. In his last match defeated 15th seed Borna Coric. That win was his 25th of the season and 21st on clay. He has already played three finals on clay so far this year. Yoshihito Nishioka arrived at the French Open ranked 33rd in the world. He has since moved up to 26th place in the live ranking, to set a new career high. Just like Etcheverry, he is playing in the fourth round here for the very first time. Before this season, the Japanese number one had never gone past the second round at Roland Garros. Nishioka has however lacked consistency in 2023, and has won just two more matches than he has lost. The 27th seed has twice played five-set matches including in the previous round against Thiago Seyboth Wild. These two will be battling for quarterfinal berth where the winner will take on Grigor Dimitrov or Alexander Zverev.
