Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Stan Wawrinka Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Wimbledon Championships

29th seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry is in the second round at Wimbledon for the first time. He takes on Stan Wawrinka in round two with the winner up against the defending chamoion Novak Djokovic. The world number 32 had never won a match at Wimbledon until this year. He's much more at home on clay than the grass courts of Wimbledon. 2021 saw him lose in the second qualfying round. He was in the main draw last year but lost in the first round to Ugo Humbert after leading by two sets to one. The Argentinian had to go to five sets on Tuesday to get his first main draw win at Wimbledon. He lost the first two sets against unseeded Bernabe Zapata Miralles but recovered well to eventually get through 7-5 in the fifth set. Etcheverry got to the last eight of the French Open but then only played one grass court warm-up event.  It didn't last long for him as he lost to J.J. Wolf in the first round at Eastbourne.

Stan Wawrinka reached the last eight at Wimbledon in both 2014 and 2015. A win over Etvheverry will see him get to the third round of this Grand Slam for the first time in eight years. The Swiss began this tournament ranked 88th in the world which is 60 places higher than at the start of the year. Injuries have blighted his career and this time last year the former world number three was down at 290th this time last year. Wawrinka has reached three quarter finals this year, one being on the Challenger Tour. He didn't play any of the grass court warm-up events but showed good form in the first round. The 38-year-old beat unseeded Emil Ruusuvouri in straight sets. He has a lot more experience than Etcheverry and is more at home on this surface so we go for Wawrinka to get the win here.
