Third seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry and unseeded Federico Coria will square off in the quarterfinals at the Cordoba Open. The winner here will then battle either Jaume Munar or Facundo Bagnis for a place in the final. Tomas Martin Etcheverry isn’t having the best start to a campaign and is currently on a losing record. He has lost four of the seven matches he has so far played and is 1-1 on clay. The Argentine began his Cordoba campaign in the second round. He defeated Bernabe Zapata Miralles in straight sets to advance to the last eight for the first time in four appearances here. This has allowed him to move up two places in the live ranking to a new career high. He is now ranked 27th in the world.

Federico Coria has also moved up the live ranking on account of his progress in Cordoba. The Argentine number five has moved 10 places in the live ranking and is now placed at number 93. He defeated Albert Ramos Vinolas in straight sets in the last round. This was his sixth win in nine outings this season with all six wins coming on clay. Coria finished as runner-up here last season and will be eager to at the very least equal this feat. It was his first final appearance in six appearances in this ATP 250 event. The 31-year-old defeated Etcheverry in their only other encounter five seasons ago on clay in the challenger circuit.
