Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Andy Murray Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Indian Wells
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
It's a big week for Andy Murray and he takes on Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the first round of the Indian Wells tournament. This is a Masters 1000 event so plenty of ranking points to be earned. Murray began this tournament in 55th place in the rankings. He has a lot of work to do if wanting to be seeded at future Grand Slam events. He's currently 330 points adrift of 32nd place but doesn't have too bad a draw in this tournament. The winner of this match faces 15th seed Pablo Carreno Busta with possible third round opponents being fellow Brits Jack Draper or 24th seeded Dan Evans. Murray recently reached the final in Doha and the last 32 in Adelaide and the Australian Open. He's had a good break since Doha so should be firing on all cylinders for this match. He reached the final here in 2009 but it'll be a massive achievement if he can get that far this time around.
Tomas Martin Etcheverry is up to 61st in the rankings but was as low as 82nd last month. He's been in good form in recent weeks but on his favoured clay court surface. Last week saw him lose in the final of the Chile Open. Before that he'd got to the last eight in Buenos Aires. In hard court matches this year, Etcheverry got to the last 32 in the second Adelaide International tournament and then the last 32 of the Australian Open, being beaten by Jannik Sinner in straight sets. Murray definitely has the advantage on this surface and can win this match.
