Tomas Machac vs Jack Sock Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Houston
by Daniel Ngulu | in Tennis Predictions
Tomas Machac and Jack Sock will face off in the first round of the US Men’s Clay Court Championship on Wednesday. It will be the first-ever encounter between the two players who are both switching attention from hard court to clay surfaces in anticipation of next month’s French Open. Machac served off in the qualifying rounds where his two wins have not only seen him make the main draw on his debut here but have also enabled him to move up four places to 134th in the live ranking. The Czech number two has looked in superb form, winning his two qualifiers without dropping a set. He arrived in Houston after being unable to get past the qualifiers at the Miami Open. Machac has been on and off the boil this season with his best performance so far seeing him make it to the quarterfinals in the Manama Challenger. He is yet to win three matches in a row but with Sock underperforming, he will fancy his chances even more.
Jack Sock has largely been inactive this season and has only played six matches. He has struggled to exert himself and has been on the receiving end four times. This has seen the former world number eight drop out of the world’s top 150 and prepares to serve off in Houston ranked 164th in the live ranking. It is almost a month since he last played a singles match following his second-round elimination at Indian Wells. To highlight how poor he has been, Sock was shockingly defeated in three sets in the first round at the Delray Beach Open, a tournament he has won before, by part-timer and at the time world number 784 Matija Pecotic. Sock was defeated in this round at last year’s championship but being a former champion here, it is not beyond him to at least progress from this round.

Our Tomas Machac vs Jack Sock Prediction
Tomas Machac has had the most success this season compared to Jack Sock as well as being more active. Sock on the other hand has the advantage of playing in front of home support and should feel more comfortable but he will need more than that to come away with the win here. We predict that Tomas Machac v Jack Sock will be a win in straight sets for Machac.
