World number 76 Thiago Seyboth Wild and wildcard Fabio Fognini will meet in thr first round of the Moselle Open. Seyboth Wild has lost his last three matches and will be eager to get back to winning ways. In his last match, he was defeated in the qualifying rounds in Paris. Wild has struggled on indoor hard courts in his career and has for the most part avoided playing on the surface. He has played only seven times on indoor hard courts and has managed just two wins. Those two wins however have come this year. And as he defeated Fognini in their first meeting, he will be confident of starting things off here with victory. Wild, ranked 74th in the live ranking, defeated Fognini in the final at the Genova Challenger back in September.

After a 15-year hiatus, Fabio Fognini is back in Metz. The veteran Italian’s only other appearance here came back in the qualifying rounds of the 2008 championship. He will hope his experience guides him past this round at least. Fognini has won 40 matches on indoor hard courts in his career and two of those have come this season. The two victories came in Bergamo in the challenger circuit where he made the quarterfinals. Fognini, who is ranked 147th in the live ranking, has had a rocky campaign and has lost more than he has won. The winner in this encounter will go on to play fifth seed Alexander Bublik in the next round.
