Defending champion Cameron Norrie has no seeds between him and the final.of the Rio Open. The second seed takes on unseeded Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild in the quarter finals of this clay court tournament. In the last four, the winner will face either wild card Joao Fonseca or qualifier Mariano Navone. Norrie needed a good run this week as he has all the ranking points earned when winning this title last year to defend. He was 23rd at the start of this tournament but is 30th in the live rankings. A loss here would see him battling to be seeded at the French Open. Norrie is in his second quarter final of the year, the other being in an Auckland hard court event. His clay court season got off to a poor start when losing his first match in Buenos Aires. It's been smoother progress this week with a two unseeded opponents beaten and only seven games lost. 

Thiago Seyboth Wild began this RIo Open ranked 82nd in the world. Making it to the last eight has seen him rise to a new career high of 72nd and can go as high as 62nd if causing an upset. His new year started poorly with a bad run of results on hard courts, winning just one of his six matches. He's far more at home on clay and has had wins over Alejandro Tabilo (after losing the first set 6-2) and Jamie Munar in three sets. This is his first match against Norrie and we tip the British player to win in straight sets.
