Thiago Agustin Tirante vs Jan Choinski Prediction & Betting Tips - Mexico City, Mexico
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
It's been a week of surprises in the clay court Challenger Tour event in Mexico City. None of the eight seeds got as far as the quarter finals, all losing in the first two rounds. In the last four we see Jan Choinski take on Thiago Austin Tirante who got into this tournament as an alternate. The winner faces either Dominik Koepfer or Maximillian NeuChrist, both of whom are qualifiers. Choinski started this tournament ranked 220th and that was only two places below the career high he achieved last mont atter beginning 2023 in 248th place. This run to the last four in Mexico City has seen him climb to 192nd and a win over Tirante will take him up another 16 places. He's in his third Challenger Tour of the year, the others coming in Germany and France. In Mexico City, he caused a big upset in round two when coming from a set down to defeat second seeded Daniel Elahi Galan. It was easier in the last eight with only three games lost against Enzo Couacaud.
Thiago Austin Tirante was ranked 234th at the beginning of this Challenger Tour event. The Argentinian is up to 213th in the live rankings but last year he was as high as 161st. This year didnt get off to a good start with five of his first seven matches being lost. His form improved with a run to the last four in a ITF clay court tournament held in Tucuman, Argentina. He didn't build on that with only one win in his next three matches but has returned to form this week. He's had to go to a final set in two of his three matches and hasn't faced any seeded opposition.
