Thanasi Kokkinakis vs Borna Ćorić Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Atlanta Open

World number 88 Thanasi Kokkinakis faces Borna Coric (ranked just four places above him) in round one of the Atlanta Open. The winner will take on the fourth seed Jordan Thompson in the last 16 of this outdoor hard court tournament.

Kokkinakis is playing his first tournament since Wimbledon where he lost in round two after beating seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime before that. The Australian has had a bit of an inconsistent year but has reached one ATP Tour hard court quarter-final.

That was in Los Cabos five months ago where he beat Jack Draper and Dan Evans before losing in straight sets to Alexander Zverev. He's made it to a Challenger Tour quarter-final on this surface since then and won a clay court tournament.

Borna Coric was ranked 37th at the start of this year but has slipped down the list. The Croatian is also playing his first tournament since Wimbledon. He's playing in Atlanta rather than the Croatian Open as that's being played on clay.

Like his opponent, Coric has failed to make it into the men's singles at the Paris Olympics. The Croatian has lost six of his last eight matches on the ATP Tour, though they were played on grass and clay courts. On this surface, Coric has reached one ATP Tour final this year.

That was in Montpellier in early February where he lost to Alexander Bublik in the title decider. That match began a poor run for him though and he lost four of his next five matches. This could be a close match but we tip Kokkinakis to get the victory.
