Spring training continues with the Texas Rangers taking on the Kansas City Royals on Friday. These teams have met twice already with the teams splitting a pair of 5-4 games. The Rangers have been blowing a bit hot and cold but that is no surprise this time of year with little in the way of consistency in the lineups with teams wanting a look at as many players as possible. Nathan Eovaldi is the star man in the rotation to start the season with a number of injuries to the others but the gaps behind him are still a little up in the air as this has been a weakness of the Rangers so far. As a team, their ERA is sub four so the bullpen have done a solid job. 

The Royals have looked much improved in spring training, a run of four straight wins stopped by the Mariners on Wednesday. While it is dangerous to take anything as too cut and dry this time of year, there will be hope that fans will have something more than just the Chiefs to cheer about this year. Salvador Perez is one of the most underrated catchers in the league, but he has been showing off his talents once more with a string of excellent at-bats this spring. Once the regular season gets underway, just four home runs will take him to 250 for his career with a further three taking him into the top 10 all-time for his position. Alec Marsh has looked solid on the mound, he made the breakthrough last year, doing well in long relief and he looks set to improve on that in 2024.
