2024 Olympics: Our prediction for the winner of the men's tennis tournament

Winner's prediction for the 2024 Olympics - Tennis

For this new Olympic tournament, the uncertainty has never been greater as so many players can claim a medal. The hostilities will take place at Porte d'Auteuil on the legendary clay courts of Roland Garros. This will inevitably give the specialists of this surface a considerable advantage. Three major favourites are currently emerging. The first is, of course, Novak Djokovic, world number 2 and three-time winner on the Paris courts. He has never won gold at the Olympic Games and will undoubtedly make this event his main objective of the season.

Carlos Alcaraz will be the second big favourite in this competition. He is extremely formidable on clay and has no real weak points when he is in form. With his wins at Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year, he is at his best form. The last big favourite would have been Jannik Sinner. Unfortunately for the Italian, he was forced to withdraw after being diagnosed with tonsillitis.

The main outsiders include Stéfanos Tsitsipás, Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev. All three perform well on clay, but remain fairly inconsistent. Rafael Nadal could well be in the running for this Olympic tournament, but we haven't seen much of him this year. As he's nearing the end of his career, Nadal is not in top form.

Olympics Men's Tennis results

After a highly entertaining final between the red-hot Carlos Alcaraz and the legendary Novak Djokovic, it was the Serbian who would ultimately reign supreme on the day. Djokovic would need two tiebreaks to claim a straight sets victory over current Wimbledon champion Alcaraz, thus securing the gold medal for Serbia. It was the first Olympics medal for the decorated tennis great, meaning that Djokovic has now won practically all there is to win in the sport.

Olympics Men's Tennis ranking:

  1. Novak Djokovic (Serbia) - Gold
  2. Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) - Silver
  3. Lorenzo Musetti (Italy) - Bronze

Our prediction on the women's tennis tournament at the 2024 Olympics (Ladies)

Prediction Women's winner Olympic Games 2024 - Tennis

The women's tournament at the Olympic Games in Paris is also shaping up to be particularly exciting to watch. We know that in this kind of competition, there can be many surprises. That was the case at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, when Switzerland's Belinda Bencic won the gold medal. That edition was particularly surprising, with only one player in the top 8 making the semi-finals (Elina Svitolina). Will that be the case again this year?

Olympics Women's Tennis results

After gaining a massive wave of momentum by knocking off world number one Iga Swiatek in the semi-final, China's Zheng Qinwen would go on to seal the deal in the final and win the gold medal. The 21-year-old secured the victory by beating Croatia's Donna Vekic in straight sets to claim her first piece of Olympic hardware.

Olympics Women's Tennis ranking:

  1. Zheng Qinwen (China) - Gold
  2. Donna Vekic (Croatia) - Silver

Our prediction on the men's doubles at the 2024 Olympics

Based on the ATP doubles rankings, the United States have a good chance of a medal with two top 10 players (Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek). The French can also claim a medal with an experienced pairing of Fabien Reboul and Édouard Roger-Vasselin. Spain is sending two competitive teams, namely the duos Marcel Granollers (world No. 1 in doubles) / Pablo Carreno Busta and Carlos Alcaraz / Rafael Nadal. A place on the podium or a gold medal is therefore on the cards for Spain. Finally, Great Britain is also sending out some strong players, with two players in the top 30 doubles (Joe Salisbury / Neal Skupski) as well as a Daniel Evans / Andy Murray pairing. However, the United States are most like to win the gold medal.

Olympics Men's Doubles results

A wild gold medal match saw Australian duo Matthew Ebden and John Peers come out victorious over Americans Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram. After losing the first set, the unseeded Australians staged a comeback which ended in a 10-8 tiebreak win.

Olympics Men's Doubles ranking:

  1. Matthew Ebden / John Peers (Australia) - Gold
  2. Austin Krajicek / Rajeev Ram (USA) - Silver
  3. Taylor Fritz / Tommy Paul (USA) - Bronze

Our prediction for the women's doubles at the 2024 Olympics

Like the men's doubles, the draw is open for the women's doubles. There are likely to be plenty of surprises, and predictions can be rather hazardous. Among the favourites, Czech pair Katerina Siniakova / Barbora Krejcikova stand out, as do the United States (Coco Gauff / Jessica Pegula), Italy (Jasmine Paolini / Sara Errani) and Spain (Sara Sorribes Tormo / Cristina Bucsa). A good bet for the women's doubles at the 2024 Olympics. Things are looking more complicated for the French pair Caroline Garcia / Diane Parry, who can nevertheless claim a place on the podium. Worth keeping an eye on.

Olympics Women's Doubles results

Another dramatic comeback took place in the Women's Doubles gold medal match. Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini suffered a heavy defeat in the first set to Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider, but woud respond with a big second set victory followed up by a 10-7 tiebreak win to ultimately claim the gold.

Olympics Women's Doubles ranking:

  1. Sara Errani / Jasmine Paolini (Italy) - Gold
  2. Mirra Andreeva / Diana Shnaider (Russia) - Silver
  3. Cristina Bucsa / Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain) - Bronze

What prediction for the mixed doubles at the Olympic Tennis Games?

Mixed doubles is often a difficult event to predict. We see most pairs that almost never play together because players prefer singles or doubles in their category. In other words, betting on the winner now is like throwing a coin in the air. For this type of competition, we advise you to bet on the matches and check whether the two players have already played together. Knowing each other well is fundamental in doubles and could make all the difference.

Olympics Mixed Doubles results

Our prediction for the mixed doubles event was correct as Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac claim the gold medal for Czech Republic! This match would also need a tiebreak to decide the winner after the Czech duo won the first set but lost the second to China's Zhizhen Zhang and Xinyu Wang. They would ultimately run out victorious after a 10-8 tiebreak win to wrap up the gold.

Olympics Mixed Doubles ranking:

  1. Katerina Siniakova / Tomas Machac (Czech Republic) - Gold
  2. Zhizhen Zhang / Xinyu Wang (China) - Silver
  3. Felix Auger-Aliassime / Gabriela Dabrowski (Canada) - Bronze

Our tips for correctly predicting tennis at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Tennis 2024 Olympic match predictions

To make the best tennis predictions for the 2024 Olympics, here are a few tips to bear in mind:

  • Analyse the current form of the players before the Olympic Games
  • Look at the history of head-to-head matches
  • Take into account the surface at the Paris Olympics
  • Look at the players' results on clay
  • Take into account the Tennis Olympics calendar

Are you passionate about tennis and thinking of betting on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games? This global event promises to be exciting, with some particularly interesting matchups to follow. If you're thinking of trying your luck and placing a few bets, we advise you to read the rest of this page for all the information you need to maximise your chances of success. Even though there are no guaranteed wins in sports betting, these recommendations can help you fine-tune your bets and, hopefully, increase your prize pool. Happy reading!

Analysing players' current form before the Olympic Games

To begin with, we strongly advise you to look at the form of the different players. This is an extremely important parameter, as tennis is a sport of confidence, and even a top player can find himself in a poor frame of mind with a string of defeats. You should therefore avoid betting solely on the ATP rankings, as they are not an exact science.

We encourage you to look at the results of the two players over the last three or four tournaments and examine their winning percentage. Don't forget to look at the opponents they faced in those tournaments. A defeat against Novak Djokovic does not have the same impact as a setback against a player ranked above 100th in the world. Finally, don't forget to consider the fitness levels of the different players. This is a fundamental parameter, especially on clay. Indeed, a player returning from a long period of convalescence will have less rhythm and will therefore be more likely to lose.

Watch the history of head-to-head matches

Tennis 2024 Olympic predictions guide

Think about analysing the various head-to-head matches between the two players. Sometimes, the lower-ranked player has a positive win ratio (overall or on a particular surface) against his opponent. Tennis is a sport in which the mind plays a major role, and a string of victories over the same opponent gives the player a definite advantage. This is surely one of the easiest and quickest parameters to analyse, so it would be unwise to overlook it! As a general rule, avoid betting on a player with too high a negative ratio against an opponent, as you are very likely to lose your stake.

Take into account the surface area at the Paris Olympics

The surface is another fundamental parameter to take into account if you want to bet effectively on tennis. You need to know that playing on clay is not the same as playing on hard court. There are some real specialists in this area, while others are much less at ease. Daniil Medvedev, for example, doesn't like this surface at all. That's why we haven't included him among the favourites or outsiders in the competition, despite his very good ranking.

How can you tell if a player is good on clay? The easiest way is to look at his results on this surface, which will give you a good indication. If you want to go further, look for players with a lot of lift, who are very fast and solid from the baseline. These are the key parameters for playing well on this surface. Even if there are other performance indicators, this will already be a very good start!

Watch the results of the clay court players

Tennis Olympics 2024 betting tips

In the same vein as our previous tip, consider analysing the results of the clay-court season. With a Grand Slam and three Masters 1000 tournaments (Monte Carlo, Rome and Madrid), there's a lot of data available to determine a player's form on this surface. It doesn't take long, and it's extremely effective!

Observing players' performances at these tournaments will give you a good idea of their level and current form on clay. By taking these results into account, you can fine-tune your bets and increase your chances of success.

Take the Olympic Tennis calendar into account

With the Olympic year just around the corner, this season is not going to be an easy one for tennis players. The French Open and the clay season ended in mid-June before moving on to the legendary London grass court. Of course, the transition is never easy... This year, Wimbledon finishes on 14 July, two weeks before the start of the Olympic tournament (27 July-4 August). In other words, it will be no picnic for the players.

Fitness will therefore be of paramount importance at this tournament. It may be worth giving preference to players who were eliminated fairly quickly at Wimbledon and who have had time to rest. What's certain is that you'll need to keep a close eye on this parameter! Additionally, keep an eye on the players' form and any injuries after Wimbledon to make informed bets and maximise your chances of success.

What not to do for your tennis predictions on the Olympic Games in France

Of course, you'll have to follow the advice given above, but we've also prepared a list of mistakes you shouldn't make when making your tennis predictions for the 2024 Olympic Games:
