Top seed Taylor Fritz and the unseeded Rinky Hijikata are set to square off next at the Delray Beach Open. They will battle it out in the quarterfinals with the winner setting up a semifinal showdown with either Marcos Giron or Patrick Kypson. Taylor Fritz is on course to defend the title he won here last season. He began his campaign in the second round where he defeated Nuno Borges in straight sets. This was his seventh win of the season and the sixth on hard court. Despite his strong start to the year, Fritz has dropped three places in the live ranking and out of the ATP top 10. He is now placed 12th in the world but can move right back into the top 10 with a win here.

Rinky Hijikata is enjoying his main draw debut in this ATP 250 event. Before arriving here he had lost more than he had won, now it’s the other way around. He defeated Matteo Arnaldi in three sets in the second round to earn his sixth win of the season. The Australian had also needed to win a decider to get through his first-round tie with Liam Broady. Advancing to this round has bumped him up six places to 78th in the live ranking. Hijikata has registered five of his six wins on hard courts but has also suffered four defeats on the surface.
