Second seeded Novak Djokovic takes on the ninth seed Taylor Fritz in the US Open quarter finals. The Serb has already been confirmed as taking over from Carlos Alcaraz as the world number one in the next ranking list. Now he has his sights set on winning the US Open for the fourth time. It'll also be his third Grand Slam title of the year if he can win here for the first time since 2018. If he can beat Fitz, then he'll face another American in the last four, either Ben Shelton or the tenth seeded Frances Tiafoe. Djokovic has won five titles with 42 out of his 47 matches played this year being won. He came close to losing in this tournament as he had to come from two sets down to beat Laslo Djere. Only five games were dropped by him in the three sets that followed. He was in dominant form in the last 16 as he beat Borna Gojo in straight sets.

To reach the last four, Taylor Fritz has to finally beat Novak Djokovic. He's lost their seven previous meetings and that included a straight sets loss in the recent Western & Southern Open. The American lost the first set to love and only managed to win four games in set two. In those seven losses, four have been on hard courts and only in one did he manage to win a set,  Fritz is in only his second Grand Slam quarter final, the other at Wimbledon in 2022. His US Open record had been a poor one until this year with his best being two third round appearances in 2018 and 2020. He hasn't had a tough draw so far and has faced two qualifers and a wild card. No sets have been dropped but it's about to get a lot tougher. We go for Djokovic to win this in straight sets.
