Top seed Taylor Fritz and the unseeded Marcos Giron will square off next at the Delray Beach Open. They will battle in the semifinals with the winner taking on either Frances Tiafoe or Tommy Paul in the championship match. Taylor Fritz is two wins away from defending the title he won here last season. Having dominated against Giron in the past, the American will be confident of progressing to the final. Fritz has won six of the seven times that he and Giron have been paired up against one another. Six of those meetings have taken place in the United States. Fritz is having a strong start to the year and has so far won eight of 10 matches. He is yet to drop a set in this event and defeated Hijikata by the loss of six games in the quarterfinals. Fritz is currently down one place to 10th in the live ranking.

Marcos Giron has boosted his ATP rank by advancing to this round and has now set a new career-high world ranking. He has moved up eight places in the live ranking to number 44. Giron’s sole win over Fritz came in the quarterfinals in Dallas two seasons ago. He won in three sets and will hope for the same outcome as he targets back-to-back tour finals. The 30-year-old, who has compiled a 7-3 record, arrived in Delray after finishing as runner-up in Dallas. This is Giron’s third main draw appearance in this ATP 250 event and the first time he has made the last four.
