Taylor Fritz has an excellent record at Indian Wells. He's reached the last eight for the past three years and won this Masters 1000 outdoor hard court tournament in 2022 beating Rafael Nadal. To reach the last eight again the 12th seed has to defeat Holger Rune who is seeded seventh. For the winner of this match there's a quarter final against either fourth seed Daniil Medvedev or 13th seeded Grigor Dimitrov. Fritz came into this tournament in good form with an outdoor hard court title won in Delray Beach. He also made it to the quarter finals at this year's Australian Open. To reach the last 16 at Indian Wells, the American has beaten unseeded Alejandro Tabilo and 19th seeded Sebastian Baez.

Holger Rune has never beaten Taylor Fritz with their only previous meeting being a win for the American in Miami last year. That match was played on an outdoor hard court. Rune was ranked seventh at the start of this tournament and remains in that postion in the live rankings. In the Live ATP Race, he's in 15th place but has shown some good form on outdoor hard courts recently. He reached the last four in Acapulco and earlier this year got to the title decider in Brisbane and the last four indoors in Montpellier. He's only had to play one match to reach the last 16. After a first round bye, his scheduled opponent in round two, Milos Raonic, pulled out. In the last 32, Rune beat 26th seed Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets. We tip Fritz to win this match.
