Taylor Fritz vs Frances Tiafoe Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

For the first time since 2006 we're guaranteed an American player in the final of the US Open. 12th seed Taylor Fritz takes on fellow American Frances Tiafoe (seeded 20th) in the semi-final. Here's our match prediction.

Fritz has reached a Grand Slam semi-final for the first time. His previous best in this hard court tournament was the last eight appearance he made this year. He's got one stage further in 2024 and beat the fourth seed Alexander Zverev in his quarter-final. 

Fritz is now 11th in the live rankings but a win here will take him into the top ten. In the ATP Live Race, he's up to seventh and can climb another couple of places if reaching the US Open final.

He has an excellent record against Frances Tiafoe. He leads him 6-1 in previous meetings with his opponent's only win over him coming eight years ago. He leads him 5-1 on outdoor hard courts and three previous matches saw both win a set.

Frances Tiafoe is in his second US Open semi-final, the other being played in 2022, his other time in the last four of a Grand Slam. He's up to 16th in the live rankings and two places higher in the ATP Race.

Tiafoe has had a tough route to this semi-final. Only one of his matches hasn't seen him drop a set and that was against an opponent who retired in the third set. The last eight saw him beat Grigor Dimitrov.

Again he won via a retirement with Dimitrov pulling out when two sets to one and 4-1 down. Between them, Fritz and Tiafoe have played six tie-breaks in this tournament. A side bet on one here is a good idea.

Overall, we go for Fritz to win and both to win a set.
