Taylor Fritz and Denis Shapovalov will renew their rivalry when they meet at the Miami Open on Monday. This will be their 12th meeting, and the winner will face Adam Walton or Chak Lam Coleman Wong. Below is our prediction for the match.

After falling in the fourth round at the Indian Wells, Fritz started his Miami campaign with a straight-sets win against Lorenzo Sonego. Head-to-head, he doesn’t have a strong run against Shapovalov and that will deeply inspire his ambitions in this match.

He has suffered seven defeats in their 11 meetings. One of his wins in those matches was here in Miami in 2023. His Miami highlight is a quarter-final appearance in 2023.

While Shapovalov finds it manageable taking on Fritz, he had to dig deep in his second round match to beat Thiago Agustin Tirante. The Canadian did it in three sets, rising from losing the opening one and needed tie breakers in the other two.

He will hope spending close to 2.5 hours in that match doesn’t affect him in this next game. Shapovalov’s season has already seen silverware; he beat Casper Ruud earlier in February to clinch the Dallas title.

Facing another top-10 player will not scare him, especially after building momentum with a 12-5 record so far. This is his sixth Miami appearance and he hopes to better his semi-final showing in 2019.
