Shnaider is 13th in the latest rankings and 21st in the WTA Race. The 20-year-old has reached one WTA Tour quarter-final in Adelaide this year. Last week in Dubai, Shnaider was beaten in round two by Linda Noskova.
This is her second match against Prozorova but the previous one was played on clay in 2022. Shnaider won that for the loss of only three games.
Tataian Prozorova is down at 175th in the latest ranking list. The Russian had to qualify to get into this main draw and did so without losing a set. That has taken her 2025 record to 12 wins and no defeats.
That may sound impressive but her first ten wins came when winning two titles on the ITF circuit and no top 100 ranked players have been beaten. Qualifying for this main draw has seen her rise to a career-high 169th.
