Taro Daniel vs Milos Raonic Prediction & Betting Tips - Toronto, Canada
by Kennedy Kechula in ATP Toronto Predictions
Wildcard Milos Raonic will on Wednesday battle qualifier Taro Daniel in the second round of the 2023 Canadian Open. Taro Daniel has been in excellent form in what is his main draw debut in Toronto. The Japanese number three has won all his three matches, starting from the qualifiers, without dropping a set. He defeated unseeded Adrian Mannarino in one hour and 50 minutes, the least time he has spent on the court, in the first round. The match saw a tiebreaker required in the first set. He has now moved up 24 places to 94th in the live ranking after the win over Mannarino. Daniel has had a rocky campaign and before arriving in Toronto, had won the same number of matches as he had lost. He has compiled a 25-22 win-loss record with the majority of his victories, 16, coming on hard court. Daniel and Raonic have played each other twice before with the latter winning both encounters on hard court.
Milos Raonic defeated ninth seed Frances Tiafoe in the opening round in three sets. The Canadian is making his 12th appearance in this Masters 1000 tournament on home soil. This has ended a four-year hiatus from the event. A former finalist here, Raonic last played in Toronto in 2019. His stay away has largely been due to injury that had kept him off the tennis court for two years. Raonic returned to the tour in June and began his campaign on grass in Hertogenbosch. He has played five matches so far and has managed three victories. His match with Tiafoe was his first on hard court since he took part in Atalanta in 2021. Support from the adoring crowd at Sobeys Stadium played a big part in his winning start to the tournament. They should play a similar role again here as the former world number three seeks his fourth win of the season. The 32-year-old is up a whopping 131 places in the live ranking to number 414. A third-round showdown with either sixth seed Andrey Rublev or the unseeded Mackenzie McDonald awaits the winner.
