You'd have to be a genius or a fortune teller to predict the finalists in this ASB Classic. Unseeded Taro Daniel takes on qualifier Alejandro Tabilo in the final of this ATP Tour hard court final. Tabilo was ranked 82nd in the world when this tournament started. His run to this final has taken him up to 60th and that's a new career high. If he can go on to win this title, the Chilean will go up to 49th place. This is his second ATP Tour final but his first in a hard court tournament. His other final saw him lose to Albert Ramos Vinolas in a clay court tournament held in Argentina two years ago. Tabilo had to qualify to get into the main draw of this ASB Classic but did so without dropping a set. He had to come from a set down to get past Borna Gojo in round one but since then hasn't dropped a set and beat sixth seeded Arthur Fils in the last four.

Taro Daniel has also achieved a new career high this week. He's gone up from 74th to 57th and can rise even further up the list to 48th if winning the title. This is also only his second ATP Tour final, the other being a clay court win in Istanbul six years ago. The 30-year-old celebrates his birthday later this month and winning this title would certainly be an early present for him. He won two matches in this tournament without dropping a set before going to a decider against Alexandre Muller. He caused a shock in the last four when beating top seed Ben Shelton in straight sets. We tip him to win this title.
