Pavel Kotov will be seeking a third career win over Tallon Griekspoor on Friday in the Stockholm quarterfinals. Tallon Griekspoor overcame the challenge of unseeded Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round and won in straight sets. It was the perfect start to his debut here and also ended a two-game losing skid. The Dutchman has struggled with his form in recent weeks and has so far lost five of his last 10 matches. But as he has already defeated Kotov this year, he will be confident of moving past this round. Griekspoor earned his first win of this series by defeating Kotov in Melbourne at the start of the year. The 27-year-old has won eight of 11 matches on indoor hard courts and is currently ranked 25th in the ATP.

Pavel Kotov has won two of the three previous meetings between him and Griekspoor. None of his wins however have been on indoor hard courts. This will however not worry him as he is a good performer on the surface. Kotov, who has 82 victories on indoor hard courts in his career, has a 100% record on the surface this year. Before arriving in Stockholm, the Russian hadn’t played an indoor hard-court match but has now won four successive fixtures. Kotov, who eliminated seventh seed Christopher Eubanks in the first round, defeated Lorenzo Sonego 2-0 to book this match with Griekspoor. His run here has allowed him to move back into the ATP Top 100 and is now ranked 97th in the live ranking. The winner here will next play either Miomir Kecmanovic, Elias Ymer, or Dino Prizimic.
