Tallon Griekspoor battled through three sets to defeat record Montpellier champion Richard Gasquet in the last round. The Dutchman has now won two of his opening three matches of the season.
The two-time tour champion began the campaign with a straight-sets loss in the first round of the Australian Open. Advancing to the quarters for the first time in three appearances here has moved him to 43rd in the live ranking.
Jesper de Jong arrived in Montpellier to make his main draw debut having lost his opening three matches to the season. He has since won back-to-back fixtures, leading to his best performance at a tour event.
The 24-year-old has progressed to the quarter-finals at tour level for the first time. He has won both of his matches this week in straight sets. De Jong defeated crowd favourite Quentin Halys in the first round.
