Second seed Carlos Alcaraz is up against unseeded Tallon Griekspoor in round two of the China Open. Next up for the winner will be either seventh seed Karen Khachanov or Francisco Cerundolo. Time for our match prediction.

Alcaraz is the world number three but a couple more wins in this Beijing hard court tournament will see him climb back up to second. That's also the case in the Live ATP Race but the Spaniard has already clinched his place in the Tour Finals.

The 21-year-old surprisingly lost in the second round of last month's US Open but has won five straight matches in a row since then. He won both his Davis Cup matches for Spain and his two singles for Team Europe in the Laver Cup.

Round one of this tournament saw him defeat unseeded Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard with both sets being won 6-4. He's trying to win his fourth ATP Tour title of the year but his only hard court success was at Indian Wells.

Tallon Griekspoor has lost his last four matches against Carlos Alcaraz. That was after beating him in their first meeting back in 2021. They are 1-1 on hard courts and over 19.5 games have been played in their last three matches, all with a tie-break played.

Griekspoor is ranked 39th in the world but six places lower in the Live ATP Race. In round one, the Dutch player defeated Miomir Kecmanovic. He needed three sets to do so after losing the first on a tie-break.

The 28-year-old had lost three of his last four matches before that win. His best hard court run of the year came when reaching the semi-finals in his native Netherlands. We go for over 19.5 games to be played in this match.
